Dr. Sosi Benjamin is a lecturer of Geology and Non-Renewable Resources at the Department of Natural Resources, Faculty of Environment & Resource Development, Egerton University. He holds a Doctoral degree in Natural Resources Management from Kisii University, Kenya. Dr. Sosi received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Geology at the University of Nairobi, Nairobi, Kenya. He worked for two years as a Geologist in the Ministry of Water, Sanitation & Irrigation, and later for two years as a lecturer in Geology at the Kenya Water Institute, Nairobi, Kenya. His research areas include aquifer hydraulic characterization and Water Quality Modeling Using Integrated Methodologies of Geophysics, Geochemistry, amongst other conventional methods. He is currently involved in teaching, research, mentoring, and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students in areas of Geology, Mineralogy, Petrology, and Petrography, as well as Geochemistry and Geo-thermometry Applications in Geothermal Energy assessments. Dr. Sosi is also involved in the activities of the National Geoparks Committee as an expert member, under the auspices of the National Commission for UNESCO - Kenya. He has participated in the identification of geo-sites within the Baringo Great Rift Valley (BGRV) Geopark, geo-tourism branding, and signage development, development of Geopark Management Plan, and a dossier to UNESCO Chair for admission of the Baringo Great Rift Valley (BGRV) Geopark into the UNESCO Global Network of Geoparks. Dr. Sosi has authored and co-authored 6 peer-reviewed research publications.
