Having joined the Economics Department, º£½ÇÆƽâ°æin July 2004 as a Teaching Assistant, Mr Oyugi J Nyanjong' is currently an Assistant Lecturer in the department aforementioned. He also serves as a Resource Person at the Disability Resource Centre, Egerton University. This is after having served as the founding Secretary at the now-defunct University Standing Committee on Disability Mainstreaming.
As a Person Living with a Disability (PLwD), Mr Oyugi J Nyanjong' has for the last ten years endeavoured to combine his research interests in disability mainstreaming and economics to develop goodness-of-fit policy stances/strategies for the benefit of staff and students with disabilities at Egerton University.
Disability mainstreaming has for the last 30 years been recognised as a human right at the local, regional and international levels. Mr Oyugi J Nyanjong' and his colleagues’ contribution in this arena has seen º£½ÇÆƽâ°æbeing consistently ranked the 2nd best University in Kenya on Disability Mainstreaming between 2010 and 2017.
The use of pedagogical innovations in teaching has also resulted in year on year improved performance in courses taught (ECON 100, ECON 111, ECON 121, ECON 354, ECON 443, BECO 101) by Mr Oyugi J Nyanjong'. This was especially the case in 2020 where his classes successfully transited to online learning. These innovations resulted in his 2011 award for Best Lecturer of the Year.
His current PhD research in dairy information networks employs modern ICT innovations to interrogate previously under-researched area of knowledge diffusion inefficiencies affecting agricultural productivity in agricultural information networks in Africa. It is expected that policies derived therefrom will result in enhanced productivity in Africa agricultural sector.
