I joined Ajira in 2018 back then as it's was picking momentum at Egerton. This was when it was first introduced to the student community through a training that had been organized by Computer Science department. There were trainers that came from the ministry of ICT who opened my eyes to the online space. Since then my story has been different.
It was exciting to know that there is so much more that l would do with the Internet besides the usual simple things l always fancied then like going to Facebook to watch what people have posted and a bit of Google when given a class assignment. The trainers from Ajira team did it so well and mentored me into what l do today. Thanks, Engineer Odossy, and Sir Emanuel.
Despite being a student from the faculty of Environment and Resource Development, it did not deter my hunger to venture into the Internet of Things (IoT) world. I grew exponentially with skills like social media management, data mining, web research, web designing, and google suite at my fingertips. Now am the director and founder of The Online Clinic (TOC) with over 500+ clients and more than 10 websites live. My parting shot is, do the things other are willing not to do and you'll get what they won't get.
My name is Julius Wachira and I鈥檓 the serving chairperson 海角破解版Ajira Digital Club [EU-ADC]. My journey in the online workspace began when l joined campus. Necessity is the mother of invention. Having arrived at a foreign place with limited finances and in the company of fellow youthful people like me who appeared more endowed than l was often sent a gush of desire to find ways l can match them. The hunger pangs would really bite so harshly that l tried several odd jobs to raise some extra cash to survive.
Social capital is also a resource that every student should consider investing in. Having a close friend who was a student leader helped me learn about a training program that was about to be introduced within campus. That was the first Ajira Digital training program that took place at campus for a whole 5 days. I did not know there was so much in the online space that one could do and earn a living.
Transcribing was my starting point. The result wasn鈥檛 promising at all. Nevertheless, l persevered a little longer and made half a dollar. Yes, half a dollar ($0.5). For the first time, l was being paid in dollars. The satisfaction was not in the amount but the mode. Someone had just opened a tap and l wasn鈥檛 going to let it be turned off. To want is to get is an old African adage that fueled my dream to excel in this new found love of my life. Today, when l look back, l can鈥檛 thank enough that friend who introduced me to the opportunity of attending the first Ajira training. My life has never been the same ever since. My mum now knows there is something called the Internet.
Not only have l gotten more training that has allowed me to venture into more avenues in the online workspace, l have been able to write three motivational books titled, Build For Discipleship, Syndrome of Tomorrow, xxxx. Content writing, video captioning, data entry/management are some of the skills l have added to my toolbox among others. I am still horning more skills that is further increasing the brightness that beholds the future. What l love most about the online world is the space it offers a determined person. You are only limited by your passion to excel in the skills you horn. The thought that it has enabled me to take care of my bills fully, support my family back home and is now promising to get me the luxury that every other young soul longs for is more than l can ask for.
It has always been my dream of owning and operating a company with employees. That is now a reality courtesy of online economy. Chiwa Investment was born out of the skills l have learnt through Ajira. It now employs nine people all working in the digital space. My dreams are valid. So are yours. I have seen and experienced an opportunity that does not segregate based on who you are or where you are from, an opportunity that rewards hard work handsomely, an opportunity that is not bound within physical borders and an opportunity that has the flexibility of working hours. What more could you ask for? Come l show you how to get to the honey comb.
The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty.
Hello,
I learnt about online work in 2016 when l first joined campus at 海角破解版through a friend. I would say this friend was an in
fluencer freelancer at the time. Due to financial constraints I was facing and love of adventure, I joined the motion and after three weeks I made my first income. Being a tech enthusiast and a computer scientist, it was a breakthrough to start adding some coins in my account in the beginning of my career.
Sometime in 2018, the first Ajira training took place at campus. This marked my official entry into the gig economy. I boarded the online train and it left the station. 海角破解版Ajira Digital Club (EU-ADC) was soon formed and l immediately joined. Not only did l become a member but also l was elected the project coordinator of the club.
I ventured in content writing and digital marketing which has been a huge source of my income besides other short-term activities on the online platform. It has brought closer my financial independency as a young lady while still pursuing my degree program. Moreso, new opportunities keeps on emerging on the online platform so sustainability is there for all. To this day, joining the online economy has been one of the best decisions l ever made.
As a testament to what joining Ajira has been to me, together with my colleague Julius, I am a Trainer of Trainer (ToT) in both Nairobi and Rift Valley regions, courtesy of National Ajira training and Mentorship program. This is just one of the feathers that being part of Ajira has added to my hat. This is very significant to me since it has helped me achieve one of my dreams of always wanting to help others become better especially the girl-child.
I would like to encourage all the youths that the time is NOW, and the chance is HERE, JOIN the program. We are all in race with TIME, start your career by grabbing this opportunity because it鈥檚 real. It has worked for me and still working for many others.
I would like to thank the Ministry of ICT, Google, E-mobilis, KEPSA and all other stakeholders who are behind our successes and continually supporting our dreams.
My name is Shadrack Sendeu, and I knew about online work back in 2012 while still a student. Back then, I ignored it, given the pressure from classwork. Some of my classmates stuck to it and juggled between it and the coursework. It was only later after I completed my degree that I resumed whilst in the tarmacking phase of life. The first job I did was freelance graphic designing. There was a company that often gave advertising bids for graphics design work. Sadly it soon closed shop. Nevertheless, l got a chance to learn how to develop brochures, Logos, Letterheads and many others that often comprised the nature of bids that they offered. It was encouraging to get promptly paid for work done.
Later I got a fulltime job and once again shelved online gigs. Not because it wasn鈥檛 good but the workload at the new place was immense. I would later resume working online in 2018. Other online income generating jobs I have attempted since then include; web design jobs and content creation for clients in popular CMS' (WordPress, Zoho, sitey, Strikingly, Tumblr, etc.), document formatting, website translations (Chinese to English), online tutorials, and social media marketing.
Online work has made me understand and appreciate the capitalistic world better; having multiple revenue streams, especially for a young man starting his post-campus life, is very welcome given the economic conditions locally. It has also impacted others in many ways; there are people we have collaborated with, and there are others I have taught.
To anyone out there who is thinking about online work, 'start immediately and don鈥檛 stop. There are so many services you can offer out there. Who would think that there is someone who needs help formatting a document in MS Word, someone who requires a tutorial for something that seems so basic? Given their online nature, you can double it with a regular 8-5 job and increase your revenue stream. Also, I would advise people starting up to be cautious. There are jobs out there that may not be legal. There are unscrupulous people out there and cybersecurity threats and so on. Best way to start, get advice from someone you trust who has been in it for a while, look for competent and registered services that offer such, for example, The Ajira Digital Program. There are some that require training and some that do not.
20s and jobless is hell. But 30s and jobless is its god father. To be jobless in your 30s simply means to be voiceless. It is a misery of dark vortex -a constant battle between anger and depression. When you are not sleeping, you are hiding just in order to evade the real world. The reason we decided to embrace the online way and teach many more the real world of a freelancer.
To be a freelancer means always punching above your weight. It interconnects in various ways like; apply for position that traditionally you thought were beyond you, fraternizing with ideologies that are way out of your professionalism because in one way or another you will encounter them. Learning new things is a norm of a freelancer as it expands your thinking capacity. That鈥檚 also another way of coming out of that cocoon of inertia.
This thing called TIME, is a precious economy in the hands of a freelancer. You have to beat the goosing and whooshing waves of strict deadlines, less that, incompetency resides at your doors and on empty queues your screens will be what you will always wake up on. That is also the reason the Ajira Club motto pauses as " ONLINE WORK IS WORK鈥. Every work requires a lot of commitment, aggressiveness and resilience in order to be always on your toes.
Whom you become in your online sphere is shaped by your preparedness and availability of opportunities. That鈥檚 why Ajira is offering us the platforms to unearth our potentials in the online world of a freelancer.
## It was my time then, it is your time now to bring your gem on the table.
I first heard about online work early 2015. This was through a friend who referred me to his friend. After spending afew days with the newfound friend, l got to learn the ropes fairly first and within a fortnight l had managed to make some cash. I did not know it would be that easy.
Since then l have explored other avenues that have proved profitable. I have ventured into content writing, transcription and afew others. However, the latter two options have become my favourite. I have never looked back since l began this journey of doing online gigs. My life has since then transformed greatly in a positive way. Not only have l managed to build my house but l am now able to confidently and with much ease pay my bills, succeeded at opening a shop and ventured into other farming projects that are currently thriving.
To a newbie, online work is real. As you can read from my story, l have managed to do the much l have courtesy of online work. It has not been a walk in the park. Sheer hardwork as borne the much and the far l have come. Being determined, optimistic and committed to deliver the best you can as well as self belief is a sure way of getting to a desired end. The fruits of online work are sweet.
I got to know about online work in 2018 in my third year of study. There was a training by the Ajira Digital Club that introduced me to online work at the time. However, I did not practice it at the time until l cleared campus. Around April 2020, l recalled about some skills l learnt about working online and decided to give it a shot.
It dint take much time before l got past the rough patch of not knowing what to do. Within the same month, l was able to begin making money. As l write this, my life is very different from what it was back then. I wish l had began earlier when l first heard of it. Anyway, its never too late.
In the short duration that l have been working and earning from my online work, l have learnt so much. I would hasten to say that online work provides one with numerous avenues of income generation. Personally, freelancing has offered me many opportunities through which I can make money in different disciplines. I鈥檓 now able to settle bills, and grow myself intellectually through online work.
To you who is still sitting on the fence, online work is work. It gives you so much flexibility and control of your personal growth and finances. Online work does not dictate one鈥檚 schedule, which generally enables you to choose what to work on, when and where. This is my best thing about working online. So, it鈥檚 never late to be the controller of your financial freedom.
I became a member of ajira after l saw a poster online requesting student to register for an incoming online training. After l registered l was invited to a physical training that took place at one of the halls within campus. This was sometime back in 2019. The training lasted five days and was very inspiring. I didn鈥檛 know there was so much out there in the online world. After the training I chose to venture into the transcription route and thus the mentorship phase began. I began my mentorship with the QA world. After several trials I was able to earn my first few dollars after just two weeks. The feeling my friends鈥 The feeling of making some money after some hard work is not equitable to many things. The excitement and the desire to do more and see how much more l can make heightened my passion. To this day, l still work alongside my studies and have managed to improve very many aspects of my life now that the constant challenge of living expenses is behind me.
Joining Ajira club has helped me discover new online platforms such as Respondent as well as digital work. Online is a free world where creativity and hard work has a direct impact on how much money you make.
My story is short, simple and fun filled. Then last bit of what l have just written has been made possible by the impact joining Ajira club has done to me. In a matter of 3 weeks after joining the club and getting trained, I got my first payment. For those of you that have heard about online work, you know how exciting it is to earn money you have worked for. The feeling is different from that of being given stipend by a parent.
I feel lucky to have been in the company of people who held my hand and walked with me to help me learn the ropes of what transcription is all about and how people make money. Nowadays, l am able to take care of my living expenses comfortably and even help some of my friends buy food as we continue with the comradeship life.
Its fun guys. Online work pays. Progressively, it lucratively pays if you are patient.
I learned about online work while in my third year of study in 2016. Most of my circle of friends were already working online and there was a team that came around campus during that time with same information which helped kick start my interest. At first, I used to get work from friends who already had accounts. This took me approximately two weeks to earn out of it.
Progressively, I transitioned to working with direct clients as I used to deal with technical work a year down the line. I further diversified to include other non-technical work such as content writing.
After campus, l got a job but did not let go online work. I still earn and steadily so. Online work provides me additional income that allows me to do much more than l would have done from my formal employment income. I could say that online work has helped me diversify my sources of income at an early age of my life.
To someone venturing into online work, from my experience, l would advice that you first do more research before deciding on what line of freelance work to venture into. Then find a mentor. Prioritize working under someone before transitioning to manage your accounts 鈥 You will learn a lot out of this.
I learnt about online work in 2016. I was actively looking for something that could help me raise a small income as a part time job before I met a friend who referred me to someone who had been doing online work. I got mentorship from him and gained skills about online work. After about two weeks, l had already began earning some income. Not much but was worth subsidizing what l was getting from my parents.
I have learnt other income generating avenues such as article writing, transcription, online marketing, online surveys and online coaching that have been giving me consistent income. I cant complain about not being able to pay my bills. The online economy is a blessing to me. When l was a university student, l was able to meet all my expenses with ease. Besides, I have been able to settle my bills and support those who look up to me for financial support. I have set up a poultry and farming projects to diversify my income. I have also expanded my network and offered opportunities to others who work under my supervision.
To someone still sitting on the fence not sure whether online work is another hoax like many others have come and gone, online work is a legit. It鈥檚 a job just like any other. If anything, it is better because you become self-employed immediately. It is your efforts that get directly rewarded. Determination, hard work, and commitment are the key virtues for any successful online worker. At first you may experience some challenges coping up with the industry, but after sometime you will be able to work swiftly. The size of the 鈥渃ake鈥 you will get will be determined by your resilience, determination and commitment.
I got to know about online work through a training that was being conducted at campus by AJIRA DIGITAL PROGRAM for free. I saw the training poster and I decided to register. Luckily, I got an opportunity to attend the physical training for five days, that was from 22ND March 2021 to 26TH March 2021.
It took me a week to earn my first income from online work. This is because I took four days to learn the few tricks on how to work proficiently online, and three days to work on certain tasks online.
I have learnt other incoming generating avenues that are still online. It is good and very encouraging to discover more and more income generating avenues online as it motivates one to work every day.
Online work has greatly impacted my life positively. It is a stable source of income just like any other physical job. Am able to sustain myself and purchase the necessary supplies that are essential for every woman out there. The best part when it comes to online work, is the fact that everyday you are assured that you have a job, you don鈥檛 have to tarmac everyday to secure a job like physical jobs.
I would advice anyone who is yet to venture into online work to please start as soon as possible. Online work is not a scam and it rely does pay well. The more proficient you become at doing your online work, the better the pay, which also means, better jobs will come through your way. You do not have to have a white-collar job in order to earn a decent living. You can work online and eke a living successfully out of it.
My journey into the world of online work began in 2019. I heard about online work through a friend but dint give it much attention. In April 2021, I joined the Ajira club where l learnt and got so much clarity about online work specifically data management, transcription, writing and translation and l was able to earn my first income in 3 weeks鈥 time after the training. I have been earning since then and subsequently learnt and signed upto to other income generating platforms.
Apart from earning, l have improved on business communications kills. Patience and persistence are the words l would tell beginners and those yet to venture into online work. The future works online. Don鈥檛 you forget that my friends. The earlier it sinks in your mind that even what you are currently studying is inseparable with the online world, the sooner you will give what l am say more attention.
I first heard about work in January 2017 after being introduced by a friend who had an online freelance account. I had no clue what it is all about but with his help, l got to understand the basics. After about a week, l had already earned my first payment. It felt nice.
Soon enough l began earning more and from the income, l managed to set a small scale farm at home. Thanks to online work. It is now thriving and my online work is thriving too. Online work has molded me into an open-minded, dedicated and time conscious person because it forces me to perform unfamiliar tasks within a defined timeframe.
To a newbie, just be patient and aggressive because online work is challenging and requires adequate time and energy for one to realize success.
