  • Today ƽis hosting a Farmers 'Open Day-cum-Stakeholders' Forum under NaPROCLA Project. Prof. Joshua Ogendo, who is the Project Leader-Kenya, explained that the aim of the forum is to share research outputs and best practices for ecological management of aphids in Dolichos bean (njahe beans). The project has been running for that last three years in Njoro and Rongai sub-counties, and will come to an end on 30th June 2021. The forum brought together farmers, agricultural extension officers, scientists, students and the general public. Forum was officially opened by the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Extension) Prof. Bockline Bebe, Egerton University.

  • Egerton University, the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM), and Gulu University in Uganda are implementing a programme titled “Transforming African Agricultural Universities to Meaningfully Contribute to Africa's Growth and Development” (TAGDev).

  • The Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Agriculture and Agribusiness Management (CESAAM) is funded by the World Bank in collaboration with the Kenya Government, and supports students, faculty and partners across Africa through building their capacity for quality teaching and innovative research.

  • The Limnology and Wetlands Management Programme (LWM) is part of the Education and Research Hub for the Sustainable Management of Aquatic Ecosystems in East Africa (AQUAHUB) project.

  • The Division of Research and Extension's core functions include coordination and development of relevant policy documents in the following core areas: research, extension services, consultancy services, short courses, technical courses, information dissemination, documentation, and publication. To ensure the Division delivers on its core functions, various committees, headed by the DVC (R&E), Director (R&E), the Deputy Director (R&E), and other experts from within Egerton University, oversee the implementation of these functions.

  • DRTEC's role in transforming lives through extension and community community engagement has not been easy during this Covid-19 pandemic. Most of the planned activities had to be cancelled or scaled down so as to adhere to the World Health Organisation containment measures.

  • Egerton University’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Isaac Kibwage on 3 February 2022 hosted a team from the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) site assessment visit Committee and the National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation (NACOSTI) for an assessment of the Main Campus to host the Regional Resource Centre (RRC). The team comprised of the Director General Dr Lawrence Banks and NACOSTI’s Director General Prof. Walter Oyawa.

  • Egerton University, through the Division of Research and Extension is pleased to announce the 15th International Biennial Conference from Tuesday, 19th  toThursday, 21st March 2024.The conference brings together researchers, academics, students and other sector experts in various disciplines to a common forum, to share and exchange information, research outputs and products.

  • A delegation from the Arava International Center for Agriculture Training (AICAT) and the Israel Embassy in Kenya paid a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor on Tuesday, 24 May 2022 and participated in a workshop to sensitise students on the AICAT programme in Israel.

    Nairobi, Oct 11 2022 (IPS) - Until a few years ago, Kenyan potato farmer Richard Mbaria used to harvest just four tonnes of the crop from an acre of land thanks to poor quality seeds, combined with an attack on the crop by pests and diseases.

  • Egerton University's Tegemeo Institute is a key participant in the 9th Annual ReNAPRI Stakeholder Conference Looking ahead: “Strengthening Africa’s food system through increased productivity, climate resilience and adaptation” Africa.

  • My name is Enock Rugut. I am a second-year masters student at ƽlocated in Njoro, Kenya, where I am working on a degree in plant breeding.

  • Farm to Market Alliance (FtMA) is an Alliance of six agri-focused organizations whose operations are coordinated by the World Food Programme (WFP). In Kenya, FtMA’s operations began in July 2017, and currently covers thirteen (13) counties. The key value chains the program focuses on are Maize, Sorghum, Rice, and Irish potatoes, other smaller value chains of interest are Soya and Finger millet FtMA Kenya’s key objectives are to: Increase the productivity and income of smallholder farmers, develop self-sustaining Farmer Service Centres (FSCs), increase private investment and involvement in the smallholder food sector and develop evidence based documents on the FtMA model. The institute was contracted by WFP to undertake the evaluation of the FtMA project. The lead consultant is Dr Jackson Langat, Monitoring, Learning and Evaluation Officer. Training of data collection staff was undertaken at Agricultural Training Centre in Nakuru and thereafter the teams were dispatched to the field. Data collection is completed and the data management and analysis is ongoing and the evaluation report is due for submission by the 3rd week of December 2022.
