Executive members of the Kenya Library and Information Services Consortium pay a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor
The executive members of the Kenya Library and Information Services Consortium (KLISC) led by their Chair Prof. Joseph Kavulia on 14 March 2022 paid a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Isaac Kibwage. Prof. Kavulia also serves as the University Librarian at Chuka University.
Also present were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof. Bernard Aduda, acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration, Planning and Development) Prof. Richard Mulwa, º£½ÇÆƽâ°æLibrarian Mrs. Janegrace Kinyanjui, Dr Sarah Kibugi KLISC Treasurer and also Director, Library Services Technical University of Kenya, Mr Arnold Mwanzu Regional University Librarian Aga Khan University, Dr Beatrice Odera – Kwach Head of Library and Information Services at the Commission of University Education (CUE) and Finance Officer Mr Moses Ouma.
According to Prof. Kavulia, KLISC was established in 2003 and is a consortium comprised of public and private universities, research institutions, public and national libraries. º£½ÇÆƽâ°æhas been a member since 2003 and it has benefited through access of e-resources, collaborations in providing access and sharing information.
The Vice – Chancellor Prof. Kibwage noted that the University was in the process of enhancing ICT infrastructure to facilitate access to library e-resources by staff and students. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs) Prof. Bernard Aduda said that the University will sensitize staff on what is available and accessible through the University Library. He added that it was crucial that the University transforms journals into digital format to make them widely known and accessible all of which would contribute to improved visibility.
