The 海角破解版Alumni Board recently convened the EUAA 79th board meeting on Saturday, August 18, 2024. at Milele Resort in Nakuru City.
Chaired by Dr. Fred Otieno, the Nairobi EUAA Chapter Chair, the meeting focused on key areas of alumni involvement in university development. The Board Secretary General Dr.Wamukuru Kuria, informed the team that the substantive EUAA Chairman Dr Richard Rop would join the meeting later on.
A major point of discussion was the recruitment drive for new members and having all members update their records. The Chapter representatives held that they have planned regional activities that are aligned with the University's strategic plan and objectives. A sub-committee was set up to put together and coordinate all regional recruitment drives and chapter events.
The EUAA Chairman Dr Rop gave key remarks at the end of the meeting congratulating Prof. Nzula Kitaka, on being appointed the to the Board. The Directorate hosts the Alumni relations office and the EUAA Board Secretariat at the, Njoro, Main Campus.
鈥淚 have worked with Prof. Kitaka at different levels, as my supervisor in 海角破解版Graduate School, and collaborated on diverse projects and she is my friend. I do not doubt that we shall achieve so much with her on the board and steer the Directorate to the next level,鈥 said Dr Rop.
The board discussed the EUAA alumni diaspora chapter, which is being explored as a means to involve 海角破解版alumni in advancing the university's objectives. "How do we bring our former students, like the ones I meet in various forums, to partner with the university?" posed Prof. Nzula Kitaka, Director of Marketing and Resource Mobilization at the university. The board acknowledged the importance of recruiting chapter members nationwide and ensuring their active participation in university activities.
The board also discussed the development of an Alumni Policy Paper and the rollout of foundational strategies to strengthen the alumni network. A robust communication system was highlighted as essential, to create a comprehensive alumni database that accurately captures all chapter members in a verifiable manner.
Looking ahead, the alumni will actively participate in the university's graduation ceremony in November this year. They plan to conduct a membership drive among the graduates, highlighting the benefits of being an alumni member. In previous years, the alumni body has contributed significantly to university activities, such as the biennial conference, providing branded water, supporting student sports, and the swimming pool's renovation.
The meeting also welcomed Phillip Nyayo as the new 海角破解版Students Association (EUSA) Chairperson, who will represent the students on the Alumni Board. Additionally, the board revisited the 海角破解版Christian Union alumni's proposal for a multipurpose hall, reflecting their continued commitment to improving the university's infrastructure and student experience.
鈥淚 am happy to report that all the support the Alumni have given to their comrades has been a phenomenon. Like the renovation of the swimming pool, the study grant to students with insufficient resources, the feeding program for needy students during examinations,鈥 said EUSA President Mr Nyayo.
