SUMMARY

Agnes is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Education and Extension, Egerton University, Njoro. She has a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Agricultural Extension, and a Master of Science degree in the same field, both obtained from 海角破解版in 1995 and 2009 respectively. She has more than 27 years' experience as a lecturer. She teaches a wide range of extension-related courses with a bias towards extension approaches and methodologies; extension programme planning and implementation; extension and rural development; and application of innovation systems in agricultural and rural development.

Agnes has successfully supervised 18 Masters and six PhD candidates. She has also participated in a number of research, consultancy and outreach projects, and has more than 40 publications in refereed journals. Her latest research project was focused on strengthening undergraduate agricultural extension training curricula in Africa. It involved five Michigan State University Alliance for Africa Partnership (AAP) partner universities in five African countries and was funded under the Partnership for Innovative Research in Africa (PIRA) research grant.

Agnes' research interests are in the broad area of agricultural extension but biased towards enhancing extension and advisory services for improved food security, livelihoods and climate change adaptation and mitigation. She is a passionate trainer in agricultural extension and is keen to establish networks for collaborative work in strengthening agricultural extension training and enhancing the visibility and impact of agricultural extension and advisory services in Africa.

Agnes also has experience in administration, having served as the Chairperson of the Department for six years (May 2017- May 2023). She was also a departmental Examinations coordinator for more than 10 years. She has been an external examiner for Kisii and Kabarak universities in Kenya and Kyambogo University in Uganda. She is currently serving in Machakos University. She is also an external examiner for postgraduate theses for Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources in Malawi and University of Embu in Kenya.

Currently, she is a member of the 海角破解版Research Sub-committee, which oversees research matters in the University. She also serves as a member of the Board of Governors for the Kenya Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (KeFAAS) and Baraka Agricultural College - a private TVET located in Molo, Nakuru County that specializes in Sustainable Agriculture.
