海角破解版Engineering Innovation To Feature In World Engineering Day.
For the second year in a row, 海角破解版engineers, Joseph Nguthiru and Charles Rugendo have an innovation that has been shortlisted for presentation in World Engineering Day globally.
The innovation, dubbed Eco-Fluido, is among the top 12 innovations selected to be showcased on March 4th during the World Engineering Day Hackathon.
.Eco-Fluido has been done by the duo in collaboration with colleagues, Millie Cheptoo from Technical University of Kenya, Sam Okemwa from University of Eldoret, and Yvonne Thuo from University of Debrecen.
鈥淥ur innovation is a unique solution that focuses on bringing sustainability in SDG 6 of Clean Water and Sanitation. This was one of the themes in this year鈥檚 hackathon,鈥 Nguthiru said.
The team credits the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) for bringing them together.
鈥淲e formed the team from the IEK Future Leaders. This is a platform that connects young engineers across the country. We are grateful to Eng Lilian Kilatya and Eng Mercy Manyasa who have been really instrumental in this,鈥 he said.
The innovators, from the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering (CEEN), in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), are not new to the engineering stage.
During last year鈥檚 World Engineering Day, the duo came in third place globally with an innovation dubbed HyaPak that later evolved to become the Best Manufacturing Startup in Kenya at Kenya Innovation Week.
鈥淲e are grateful for a chance to represent Kenya, and mainland Africa, once again in this prestigious platform. It is always a pleasure to be in such forums that represent the best of what our profession has to offer,鈥 Rugendo said.
According to the Chairperson of the Department of CEEN, Eng Nancy Matheri, there is a lot more to tap from the department.
鈥淲e have incredibly innovative and talented students running amazing projects. We are proud to have this group make us shine once again, and wish to have more students following in their path,鈥 she said.
