As I approach the final stages of the Limnology and Wetland Management programme at Egerton University, I reflect on a journey that has been both academically enriching and personally transformative. Supported by a scholarship from the Rotary Club of Vienna (RCV), under the expert guidance of Prof. Nzula Kitaka, I've had the privilege of enjoying high class education while exploring Kenya鈥檚 diverse aquatic landscapes. Stretching from the cold mountainous rivers to warm coastal lagoons, the programme鈥檚 field excursions felt like an adventure, enriched by stays in prestigious hotels.
The program's coursework has been designed to cover a wide range of topics expanding my academic horizon and deepening my understanding on aquatic ecosystems. The diverse learning environment with a unique blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills makes the programme fascinating. Challenges of studying in different environments during excursions and interacting with peers from diverse cultural backgrounds have made the programme capture aspects of real-world experience. The hands-on approach, supported by cutting-edge equipment for both fieldwork and laboratory analysis, has made the learning journey both captivating and rewarding.
To sum it up, LWM programme has been a transformative experience that has equipped me with the knowledge, skills, and networks necessary to succeed in the field of limnology and wetland management.
