SUMMARY

Dr. Vincent Kiprono Mukthar is a highly accomplished Senior Lecturer and Senior Research Fellow in Nursing Education at the Department of Nursing. With a PhD in Nursing Education from the University of Nairobi (2020), along with a Master’s in Nursing Sciences (2006) and a Bachelor’s in Nursing (2000), Dr. Mukthar’s academic journey is marked by dedication and excellence.Since joining şŁ˝ÇĆĆ˝â°ćin 2008 as an Assistant Lecturer, he has steadily advanced in his career, attaining the role of Senior Lecturer and serving as Chairman of the Nursing Department for two successful terms (2011-2018). During this period, he spearheaded the development and refinement of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Direct Entry), which has become one of the most in-demand programs in the country.Currently, he leads multiple academic programs, including the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Direct Entry and In-service Modes) and the Diploma in Nursing (In-service Mode). His vast experience spans applied health research, community outreach, and consultancy in areas such as nursing education, maternal and neonatal health, and population health.Dr. Mukthar has been the Principal Investigator in several research projects funded by internal grants, including studies on skilled birth attendance, contraceptive use among women, and healthcare worker safety in Nakuru County. A prolific scholar, he has published over 20 scientific articles and contributed to book chapters, while also presenting his work at numerous conferences and workshops.Beyond his academic contributions, Dr. Mukthar is a registered nurse with the Nursing Council of Kenya and holds a valid practice license. His influence extends to mentoring, having successfully supervised one Master’s thesis and currently guiding eight Master’s and one PhD student in nursing, nutrition, and health-related fields.Dr. Mukthar’s expertise has earned him roles as an Adjunct Lecturer at Kabarak University and an External Examiner at various institutions, including the Nursing Council of Kenya. A seasoned educator and researcher, he is a cornerstone in the field of nursing education.
