SUMMARY

Ms. Beverly Achieng  is an assistant lecturer in the department of Literature, Languages and Linguistics. After graduating with a Bachelor of Education Degree from Egerton University, she taught at Secondary school level before enrolling for postgraduate studies. She later obtained a Master of Arts degree in Linguistics from 海角破解版and taught as a parttime lecturer before being employed as assistant lecturer in 2013. Her area of specialization is in Communication Skills and Linguistics (English) majoring in Research methods, Syntax as well as  Discourse and communication studies. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in linguistics with a focus on Multilingualism and Family Language policy/practice.

  • Discourse and communication.
  • Multilingualism, especially in the family space.
  • Interrogating Family Language Policy and practice.
  • Taking a discourse analytic approach to examine ideological complexities manifested in the lingustic codes used by members in mulitingual family settings.
