Summary of Egerton University鈥檚 Key Achievements
From July to December, 海角破解版undertook various activities and events that that underscored our commitment in transforming lives through quality education. During the 45th Graduation Ceremony on 29th July we graduated 2,322 undergraduate and postgraduate students. For the 2022/2023 academic year, we admitted a total of 5,300 first-year students to various programmes spread across all Faculties. We have also forged new partnerships with other institutions such as the Oslo New University College (Norway) with whom we signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on training and collaborations.
The Chinese Ambassador Zhou Pingjian Awarded Scholarships to eleven (11) 海角破解版Students during his visit to 海角破解版on 15thSeptember. From October 17thto 19ththe University hosted the second General Assembly of the Africa-UniNet and Erasmus + Cooperation Seminar with participation from researchers drawn from various African and European countries. The University hosted webinars and public lectures that included the Alliance for African Partnership (AAP) Youth Employment: Opportunities and Challenges. We also participated in the Kenya Innovation Week (6th to 8th December 2022) and an innovation by a student from the Faculty of Engineering & Technology won an award. On a different note, the 海角破解版Alumni Association (EUAA) has a new Executive Board following elections conducted during the Association's AGM held on 26 November 2022 in Nakuru City. The following were elected; Mr Richard K. Rop (Board Chair), Dr. Stella Wabwoba (Vice-Chair), Ms. Ann Tenya (Treasurer), Ms. Racheal Litei (Organizing Secretary), and Dr. Kuria Wamukuru (Secretary). EUAA members also elected the following chapter representatives: Dr. Duke Oeba (Nakuru), Ms. Miriam Nangila (Western), Dr. Emmanuel Mokoro (Nairobi), Mr. Albert Ondimu (South Nyanza) and Mr. Anderson Ngolo (Coast). The Board will also have three co-opted members from Egerton University. These are the Director, Marketing and Resource Mobilization, Alumni Relations Coordinator, and the Alumni Officer. I wish them success as they undertake their duties.
The University also held several collaborative engagements through webinars, seminars and workshops. These include;2ndGeneral Assembly of the Africa-UniNet and Erasmus + Cooperation Seminar held at Egerton (17th to 19th Oct, 2022) led by Prof Nzula Kitaka; Alliance for African Partnership (AAP) Public Dialogue Series on Youth Entrepreneurship in collaboration with Michigan State University (MSU)(30th Nov 2022), led by Prof Alexander Kahi; 9th Annual Renapri Stakeholders Conference Tegemeo Institute in Namibia (1st-3rd Nov 2022); Kenya Innovation, Cweek (5th - 8th Dec 2022) by Kenya National innovation Agency (KENIA) led by Prof Nancy Mungai (acting Director Research & Extension), Prof Paul Kimurto (Director Marketing & Resource Mobilization) and Prof George Owuor (Director CESAAM).
One of our Engineering student Joseph Githaiga won the best innovation award on using Water Hyacinth to produce biodegradable seedling bags; RUFORUM held its 18th Annual General Meeting (AGM) (12th-16th December 2022) in Harare, Zimbabwe led by TAGDEV program; and Land Commercialization Initiative (LCI) Review workshop (15th -16th Dec 2022) to develop Lord Egerton Agricity Agro-Industrial Park supported by Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development.
During the period, there were also several Joint Public Lectures between Egerton and academia and scientists from local and international collaborating Universities.
