This is after colourful life changing graduation ceremony held on Friday, 24th March 2023, by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (FVMS) at Egerton University.The graduation ceremony was held for 82 Uasin Gishu youths who enrolled to study animal health through the Support of the County government to enable them practice as professionals.The ceremony took place at FEDCOS Theatre II from 9:30 am to 12:00 noon, and the chief guest was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Academic Affairs, DVC-Academic Affairs,Prof. Bernard O. Aduda.
During the ceremony, 57 students were awarded certificates while 25 students graduated with diplomas. The graduates were trained and indexed by the Kenya Veterinary Board, making them eligible to work in various animal health sectors.The graduation ceremony was attended by the Chief Officer for Education and Vocational Training, Ruth Samoei, who represented Governor Jonathan Bii. In her speech, Samoei challenged the university to add more courses relevant to the county, such as animal production. She emphasized the county's commitment to supporting youth empowerment through market-driven training.The Governor affirmed the county's commitment to investing in education and training, which he believes will spur economic growth in the county. He expressed his satisfaction with the animal health course, which he described as timely and relevant to the needs of the county.
In his address, Prof. Caleb Orenge, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery, congratulated the graduates for successfully completing their studies. He commended them for their hard work and dedication, which he believes will serve them well in their future careers.
Prof. Benard Aduda, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Academic Affairs, said the animal health course was tailor-made to meet the needs of Uasin Gishu County. He emphasized the importance of such courses in addressing the unique needs of different regions and communities.
The graduates expressed their gratitude to the university and their lecturers for the knowledge and skills they had acquired during their studies. They also thanked the county government for its support and commitment to their education and training.
